Did you know . . .
. . . the average-sized human body contains about 6 quarts of blood at any one time.
Electrophysiology & Arrhythmia:

Queen's Heart Cardiac Electrophysiology & Arrhythmia Service offers comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services for patients with cardiac arrhythmia disturbances.

In our state-of-the-art laboratory, members of the electrophysiology team offer a wide range of electrophysiology and mapping procedures to patients with suspected rhythm abnormalities. These procedures may be used to diagnose or to treat a heart problem.

Electrophysiology Patient Services Include:
• 24-Hour Holter ECG monitoring
• Head-up tilt table testing
• Exercise treadmill testing
• Invasive cardiac electrophysiology study
• Cardiac arrhythmia mapping
• Catheter ablation therapy
• Pharmacological management
• Electrical external cardioversion
• Electrical internal cardioversion
• Pacemaker implantation
• Implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) implantation
• Surgical ablation
• Cardiac resynchronization therapy

The medical team for heart arrhythmia patients at Queen's Heart is led by electrophysiologists. These are cardiologists (medical experts in heart care) with specialized training in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders.
